UNT has pulled off its first big coup of the final Sunday before national signing day. Dallas Pinkston cornerback Freddie Warner, a first-team all-district selection said early this afternoon that he has committed to UNT.
Warner is ranked No. 51 on The Dallas Morning News’ Area Top 100 list.
Warner was committed to Texas Tech, but said the school quit talking to him after the coach who was recruiting him left the staff. He took that to mean that his scholarship had been pulled.
UNT moved in and landed one of the highest rated players so far in its class. Warner was recruited by Justin Gaines. He had offers form Colorado State, UTSA and UTEP before he committed to Texas Tech.
And in other news Lloyd Carrington committed to Pitt today. UNT was hoping to get him in a package deal with Kerry Swarn.
Check back later. Today should be a busy day.
