Breaking news — OU DB transferring to UNT (updated)

Former Oklahoma defensive back Jordon Finch confirmed this afternoon that he plans to transfer to UNT and will go through the walk-on program in August.

The former Mansfield standout will be the second Sooner defensive back to transfer to UNT in the Dan McCarney era. Safety Marcus Trice transferred to UNT, sat out last season and is expected to start this year.

Trice and Finch were roommates at OU and remain good friends. Trice had talked to Finch about UNT and helped convince him to start over anew with the Mean Green.

Finch didn’t start until he was a senior at Mansfield, but had a really good year and received scholarship offers from several Division II schools. There were some lower-level FBS schools that showed interest, but didn’t have a scholarship left to offer to Finch late in the recruiting process.

Finch decided to walk on at Oklahoma instead. He stayed three years, but never played. Transferring to UNT will give him the opportunity to compete for playing time.

Finch will have two years of eligibility remaining. He is enrolling in classes at UNT tomorrow.
