Dan McCarney talks about physical nature of practice (video), Get Your Rear on the Record update

Here is a video I shot with UNT head coach Dan McCarney. We talked about the physical nature of practice.

McCarney has emphasized being physical since he arrived at UNT and is happy with the progress the Mean Green is making toward that goal. Marcus Trice and Brandon McCoy are players he consistently singles out for good, physical play.

I asked about the status of Dutton Watson, UNT’s freshman defensive end who was injured in the scrimmage over the weekend. Watson did not suffer any ligament damage. I heard in passing that he is going to be our four to six weeks. He was in a full length knee brace, the kind with a hinge that allows a player to bend his knee after practice.

McCarney says it’s way too early to talk about redshirting players.

And while we are at it, a bunch more people sent in their picks for our annual “Get Your Rear on the Record” contest. Here is what we have so far.
