Here are a few tidbits from today’s Dan McCarney press conference. Once I listen to the tape, I will probably have some items to add.
And I will have a video on the blog here in a bit:
– McCarney thanked UNT’s fans and especially the students for a great turnout for the Mean Green’s home opener against Texas Southern. Class move by McCarney.
– McCarney credited UNT for playing one of the more physical games he has seen since his time at UNT against TSU. Being physical is a big emphasis for McCarney.
– McCarney said UNT has to be better in the passing game and that Derek Thompson missed on some throws he makes every day in practice against TSU. I talked to DT about it for our upcoming video.
– McCarney acknowledged that UNT needs to get the ball to Brelan Chancellor more.
– Linebacker Derek Akunne had a good game against TSU. With Jeremy Phillips hurt again, he will take on a larger role. McCarney really likes him as a player.
– Antoinne Jimmerson continues to come along and should get some additional opportunities.
