I wrote a story that will be in tomorrow’s paper about running back Antoinne Jimmerson.
Seemed like the thing to do after he burst on to the scene last week with 139 yards in a win over Texas Southern.
I will leave most of what he had to say for the paper, but one tidbit that really stuck out to me is just how much good weight he has put on. He’s listed at 219 pounds now. He came to UNT at 198 and was listed at 190 in one place I looked heading into his senior season at DeSoto.
I remember thinking he looked a whole lot bigger this fall when I saw him lining up with his teammates for UNT’s team photo.
He could be UNT’s next really good running back.
It’s been a while since I mentioned his back story, which I think really says a lot about how talented he is.
Jimmerson broke his foot and missed spring practice heading into his senior year.
Not a lot of college coaches saw him.
UNT did, so did Iowa.
Both brought him in for a visit, but he ended up committing to UNT.
His teammates have been raving about his performance in practice ever since he got to campus. He has high-end talent.
And a good future. Be sure to pick up tomorrow’s paper for more.
