UNT announced its Hall of Fame class this morning.
Walter Chapman, Brandon Kennedy, Ron Linscomb, C. Dan Smith and Jamario Thomas will make up the Class of 2012.
My quick reaction? The bowl era is starting to get its due.
Brandon Kennedy was one of the most dominant defensive linemen that I have ever seen at UNT. He was way too short to play at the NFL level, but he was a key player in some of those great UNT defenses of the early- to-mid 2000s. He had some amazing games against top-level competition.
Jamario Thomas had his career fall off after a great freshman year, but that year alone made him deserving.
Those two guys helped UNT get to a bowl game in four straight seasons from 2001-04.
Scott Hall should be up next from those teams. He’s the fourth-leading passer in school history with 5,975 yards and was a big reason UNT won a lot of games.
C. Dan Smith has done more for UNT athletics than most people will ever know.
Some older UNT fans have been calling for Walter Chapman for years and finally got their wish.
Not a bad class, especially since it included some people who clearly should be in there.
