UNT picked up a huge win over Middle Tennessee tonight, knocking off the Blue Raiders 3-2 in the Mean Green’s last home game as a member of the Sun Belt.
UNT came into the night a half game behind MTSU in the standings, but jumped past the Blue Raiders with the win. UNT is 8-0-1, while MTSU is 8-1 heading into the last game of the regular season.
If UNT can win at Western Kentucky on Sunday, it will win the league title and be the No. 1 seed in the conference tournament.
UNT looked like it would coast to the win after going up 3-0, but gave up a couple of goals.
The Mean Green did what it does best the rest of the way and pitched a shutout.
UNT should be able to win at WKU, if it can fix some of the defensive lapses it had against MTSU.
The win was still an impressive one for UNT, one that put the Mean Green right where it wants to be at the end of the season.
I’ll have more in tomorrow’s paper.
