I don’t usually venture out the Big Four (football, men’s basketball, football recruiting, women’s basketball) on the blog. That is where the audience is.
But we don’t make exceptions, especially when things get interesting in other sports.
This is one of those times.
Tonight the remaining John in whom we trust — that would be UNT women’s soccer coach John Hedlund now that Johnny Jones has taken his talents home to Baton Rouge — has his team in a key game against Middle Tennessee.
UNT comes into this game at 7-0-1 in Sun Belt play, while MTSU is 8-0. UNT can move past MTSU in the standings with a win tonight heading into its regular season finale at Western Kentucky on Sunday.
Long story short — This isn’t for the whole enchilada, but it’s pretty close.
UNT can grab the No. 1 seed in the Sun Belt tournament and the regular season title with a win tonight and a win on Sunday.
The Mean Green rarely loses at home.
It’s a great opportunity for UNT.
Here’s the story I wrote for today’s paper about it: UNT to take on MTSU in key soccer game
