Late-night thoughts on UNT’s loss to ASU

Amazing factoid — Arkansas State had now beaten UNT eight straight times after rolling by the Mean Green 37-19 tonight. ASU had done that against no other team in its entire history.

That just blows me away.

And by the way, does everyone realize who Gus Malzahn is now?

It shocked me when I was questioned about my stance that the former Auburn offensive coordinator was a huge get for ASU.

Well, the Gus Bus rolled into Denton and rolled over the Mean Green tonight. The Red Wolves are bowl-eligible again with six wins.

Ryan Aplin killed UNT tonight like he always does, throwing for 328 yards and two touchdowns in addition to running for another.

Derek Thompson threw for 316 yards, but UNT never really cashed in while moving the ball up and down the field most of the night.

UNT really missed Brelan Chancellor. This team just does not have many playmakers without him.

The homecoming crowd of 17,534 was a little light.

At 3-6, UNT is still alive for a bowl berth, but the schedule is brutal down the stretch with games at Louisiana-Monroe and Western Kentucky after a home game against South Alabama.

It just does not look good for UNT right now.
