UNT took care of business tonight, beating South Alabama 24-14.
It wasn’t a work of art, but UNT did what it had to do to get the win. Antoinne Jimmerson went down with a shoulder injury. Dan McCarney said UNT will not know what the extent of the injury is until tomorrow.
UNT struggled offensively and Derek Thompson was off all night. Two long touchdown runs by Brandin Byrd and Jeremy Brown saved the day.
USA is as bad as it we thought, but that shouldn’t detract from another win for UNT.
McCarney makes a big deal out of the final home game of the season with the Senior Bowl trophy deal. The seniors get to see their picture up with the trophy all year long if they win that final home game.
A tad cheesy?
It still works, and that’s the bottom line.
UNT is sitting at 4-6 right now with two games left. Let the calls for 6-6 begin.
It’s not out of the realm of possibility that UNT could get there. UNT will have to win on the road at Louisiana-Monroe and Western Kentucky.
We are not talking Texas and LSU here, but both teams have played well at times this season. UNT has not played well against teams that are threatening to finish over the .500 mark with the exception of Louisiana-Lafayette.
How in the heck did ULL get itself in position to get that punt blocked any way?
It will be a tough road, especially if Jimmerson is out.
UNT has a shot, though. It reminds me a little of last year when the Mean Green lost to WKU in Week 10 to officially drop out of the race for .500.
