I’m not a big fan of the unpleasant question time of the year, which is back after a year’s hiatus at UNT.
So here are the two news tidbits from today’s Sun Belt call, neither of which is surprising:
– Linebacker Mike Stojkovic is gone for good.
– Wide receiver Chaz Sampson is transferring out.
Stojkovic was a pretty good player his first season at UNT, but then ran into legal problems and off-the-field issues. UNT let him back on the roster for a while, but then parted ways with him again. It was more of a house keeping question than anything, but he won’t be back.
Sampson never worked out at UNT. He said publically a while back that he is headed to Alcorn State. He was a high profile recruit who never worked out. That really hurt during a time when UNT has lacked playmaking ability.
I asked McCarney if he anticipated any changes in his staff and didn’t get a bite. Didn’t expect one. McCarney will meet with his coaches as they head out the door to recruit.
UNT will have 20 spots to give after bringing give transfers/grayshirt players at the semester break.
