Just got off the Sun Belt coaches call, and this time there was a pretty big news tidbit.
Antoinne Jimmerson is out for the year with broken bone in his shoulder. It’s another huge blow for UNT, which has already lost Brelan Chancellor.
Jimmerson was one of the few playmakers UNT had.
Dan McCarney said all the right things about wanting to finish in a positive way in the final game of the season. That won’t be easy to do on WKU’s senior day. Willie Taggart talked about how much his team has to play for, including improving its chances to play in a bowl. WKU was left out after winning seven games last season.
I asked a few coaches about the value of a bowl game in terms of developing young players. They all said it was huge. Those extra practices give teams a huge advantage heading into the next year.
I have often wondered if not playing in the postseason has set UNT back a little in terms of bringing young players along.
