Tuesday afternoon football, basketball notes

I’ve been running around all day trying to get the material I need for stories throughout the week on both the football and basketball fronts. I did shoot some video interviews for football that I will post some time either today or tomorrow.

Here are the quick-hit highlights:

– Jacob Holmen sprained his ankle in the super secret scrimmage that every team has each season, but can’t talk about — at least not officially. He might be ready in time for the Creighton game.

– Clarke Overlander is still battling a hamstring issue and Justin Patton is still out with a knee injury that will keep him out a few weeks. Overlander was shooting before practice.

– Dan McCarney should have all the players who have not already been ruled out for the season available this weekend for the South Alabama game.

– UNT’s players and McCarney talked about the importance of sending the team’s seniors out on a high note. This has already been mentioned, but McCarney made a point of talking about how few seniors UNT has this year. UNT has just 17 seniors, including nine who were walk-ons. That should change down the line now that UNT has fixed the problem.
