It looks like UNT shooting guard Brandan Walton will be out for a while.
UNT won’t know how long until it gets back from the Preseason NIT. UNT will face Alabama-Huntsville tonight in its first game in the event without Walton, who injured his foot coming off a screen in the Mean Green’s season-opening loss to Creighton.
He will be out at least two games.
A UNT spokesman said that it looks like Walton has a broken bone in his foot.
Losing Walton for an extended period would be a tough break for UNT, which has already dealt with a series of injuries this year. Justin Patton is out for at least the first four weeks of the season with a knee injury.
UNT has plenty of solid guards from Chris Jones to Alzee Williams to P.J. Hardwick. The question now is who will fill the role as UNT’s top shooter?
Clarke Ovelander, the former Argyle standout, could be a possibility.
