Breaking news — UNT lands Louisville transfer

Multiple sources within the UNT athletic department confirmed this afternoon that Louisville defensive back and former Segoville standout Zed Evans is in the process of transferring to UNT to use his final year of eligibility.

Evans will play in the Sugar Bowl and then join the Mean Green in time for spring practice. Evans will graduate before leaving Louisville, which will allow him to be eligible immediately at UNT.

Evans plays primarily on special teams at Louisville, but did post 12 tackles in 12 games. He was credited with breaking up one pass and defending another. He also had one tackle for loss.

UNT will play Evans at strong safety.

Evans will play for Louisville in the Sugar Bowl against Florida before transferring.

The Mean Green struggled at times defensively last season and has added several players at the mid-term break to help bolster its performance on that side of the ball.
