Thoughts on UNT-SLU

Disclaimer — No, I didn’t go to the UNT-St. Louis game tonight. We don’t travel in nonconference play these days, so I missed the Mean Green’s 67-63 loss.

But …

Tony Mitchell appears to be back. The big guy finished with 18 points and eight rebounds after taking one shot in UNT’s last game.

Mitchell was working on receiving the ball and making quick moves to the basket before practice this week.

Chris Jones played great tonight, going off for 21 points, seven rebounds and seven assists. He’s on a tear and is just that good.

Roger Franklin had a tough night, scoring six points on 1-for-10 shooting. UNT is going to have a hard time winning when he doesn’t provide some scoring in the paint.

Jordan Williams didn’t start and didn’t score in 20 minutes.

Niko Stojilkovic had six points and four rebounds in 14 minutes.

UNT is 3-6, but still has a chance to find it in Sun Belt play and has some time before it gets into the heart of league play.
