Jermaine Antoine, one of UNT’s key recruits, is taking his visit to TCU this weekend after all.
Antoine committed to UNT on Jan. 23 and said at the time that he would not visit TCU.
I talked to Loreauville (La.) High head coach Trent Delahoussaye this afternoon. He confirmed that Antoine is headed to Fort Worth.
Delahoussaye said that TCU has yet to offer and that Antoine has assured him that he is sticking with UNT. Delahoussaye is in UNT’s corner and said that Justin Gaines and Noah Joseph have done a great job with Antoine.
There does seem to be a bit of concern on UNT’s part, though. Gaines and Joseph have been on the phone with Delahoussaye multiple times today.
UNT has already lost one prospect who had committed to play for the Mean Green in Louisiana linebacker Sergio Media, who backed out to sign with Tulane.
The problem for UNT is that TCU is going to have exclusive access to Antoine for quite a while and will have a chance to sell playing in the Big 12 and the success TCU’s program has had over the years.
UNT has playing time to offer. Antoine said that he expects to compete for immediate playing time at UNT.
Antoine is a nationally ranked prospect and arguably the top player UNT has landed so far for its 2013 class. That class is going to look a whole lot better on paper if UNT can hang on to Antoine.
