Monday afternoon basketball/football notes

Getting to this a little late today, but I did run by the end of women’s basketball practice and the beginning of men’s practice.

The injury Jacob Holmen has been dealing with is plantar fasciitis, which is not good news. Basically, that is inflammation in the tissue along the bottom of the foot. He was riding a bike today and jogging on the sideline during practice.

The point is, Holmen might be back for UNT’s game at Arkansas-Little Rock, but there is a chance the injury could flame up again and put him back on the shelf.

Brandan Walton is back wearing a shoe again and is shooting on his own after breaking his foot early this season. He won’t be back this year, but he is progressing.

On the football front, that really was a nice win for Arkansas State last night in its bowl game. Ryan Aplin passed for 213 yards to lead ASU past Kent State 17-13 in the Bowl.

ASU has really improved its program over the last few years. It will be interesting to see how the Red Wolves do once all the conference realignments moves shake out. ASU probably isn’t going anywhere considering the school has no market.
