I am taking off for Lafayette in the morning, so I didn’t get to see the game, but the UNT women broke out of their mini late season slump with a 64-46 win over Louisiana-Lafayette tonight.
One could kind of see this one coming.
UNT had lost three straight to two of the Sun Belt’s elite teams — Middle Tennessee and Arkansas-Little Rock — and also lost on the road at Florida Atlantic.
ULL is really bad — 1-11 in Sun Belt play bad.
UNT just ran the Cajuns out of the gym.
UNT had scored just 47 and 48 points in its last two games, which is not good for a run-the-floor team. The Mean Green got back on track tonight behind 14 points from Alexis Hyder, 13 from Loryn Goodwin and 12 from BreAnna Dawkins.
UNT is 8-13 and more importantly 7-5 in conference play.
UNT has a huge game at Arkansas State coming up on Sunday, right before the Super Bowl. The Red Wolves might be the Mean Green’s biggest completion for the Sun Belt West Division title.
And in a side note, former UNT head coach Johnny Jones picked up a huge win tonight when LSU knocked off No. 17 Missouri 73-70. The Tigers darn near won at Kentucky in their last game.
One of the greats in UNT history is going to do just fine at LSU.
