A couple of people have asked me about last night’s game and what happened with Tony Mitchell’s technical foul that started UNT down the path to one of the worst losses in recent years for the Mean Green, a 105-74 loss to Louisiana-Lafayette.
Tony Benford mentioned after the game that a coach on ULL’s bench baited Mitchell before he was called for that technical.
The assumption a lot of people are making is that it was former UNT assistant Shawn Forrest who said something.
I’m not outing anyone here, but it wasn’t Forrest.
Shawn is one of the great guys to come through the UNT basketball program over the years, and there have been a lot of them. He is close to UNT’s players, who he coached and mentored through the years.
Shawn wouldn’t — and didn’t — do anything to get Mitchell upset.
