UNT came back from a seven-point first-half deficit and held on to knock off Arkansas State 64-62 on Sunday in a huge Sun Belt Conference West Division game.
ASU had won seven straight and was threatening to open up some space in the division standings.
UNT (7-5) is now right behind ASU (8-4) and has a much more favorable schedule down the stretch.
Alexis Hyder had 23, Sara Stanley had 12 points and 11 rebounds and Desiree Nelson came off the bench to score 12.
Nelson gave UNT a 64-57 lead with 1:26 left on a layup. ASU rallied, but came up short.
And in a side (recruiting) note, a few people have asked about the status of quarterback Dajon Williams, who committed to UNT a long time ago. For some reason a lot of recruiting websites are not showing him on UNT’s list.
I checked in with him today. He is going to sign with UNT on signing day.
