Most people probably saw this in the paper or on-line today, but I thought it was worth mentioning on the blog that UNT signee Greg Wesley had a monster game at the DFW Showboat Classic, an all-star game at Irving MacArthur.
Wesley, a 6-7 forward, scored a game-high 34 points and was named the MVP after leading the Blue All-Stars to an 89-87 overtime win over the White.
Wesley has been committed to UNT for months.
UNT sold him on filing the role Tony Mitchell played this season for the Mean Green.
I have not seen Wesley play, but he is supposed to be a really athletic and talented offensive player. He might roughly equate to a bigger version of Jordan Williams, which would be great for UNT.
UNT still has scholarships to fill and a rather glaring need on its front line.
With the late signing period coming up, we should find out pretty quickly how UNT does in addressing that need. Keith Coleman is about the only forward/center UNT has coming back.
No matter how it turns out, Wesley is a pretty good player to build around.
