Friday morning notes (Hardwick’s ironic trip, UNT offers LB)

Former UNT guard P.J. Harwick is taking an official visit this weekend in his search for another school where he can continue his career after deciding to leave Denton.

His destination?

Yep, Arkansas State.

Oh, the irony.

UNT head coach Tony Benford and ASU coach John Brady disputed a call with game officials and got into it a bit last season. Brady then called Benford out in his press conference after the game and said that Benford used profanity, which Benford denied.

Here’s a review of what went down.

Benford got the last laugh when UNT won the final meeting between the teams last season.

It’s all water under the bridge now and with UNT leaving for Conference USA. Benford and Brady will likely never coach against each other again. It’s just ironic that Hardwick could end up starting his career playing for Benford and then playing for Brady.

And in other news, UNT continues to send out a few more scholarship offers in football.

The strategy is pretty apparent. UNT is offering a few dozen top prospects early and will sit and wait to see who falls in love with what UNT has to offer and who falls to them late.

The latest name to pop up is that of Humble Summer Creek Dakota Allen

Allen has about 10 offers from schools like TCU, Colorado and Kansas State.
