UNT is officially a member of Conference USA today, the big moving day in the latest round of realignment in college athletics.
Several schools, including Middle Tennessee, made their big promotional push today.
UNT put out a video this morning, but is waiting until Thursday when it will have a captive audience at the annual fireworks show that is moving to Apogee Stadium.
I checked in again today after getting in a final round of vacation before we begin the push to get ready for the football season over the next few weeks at the paper.
There will be thousands of people who show up for the fireworks. That crowd constitutes a big chunk of UNT’s target audience.
We will talk a little more about the move later this week and in our annual football preview magazine, but there are a host of ways in which UNT will benefit. The most important being playing other Texas teams on a regular basis.
UNT will also benefit on the financial end, which Adam Sparks, who covers Middle Tennessee for the Daily News Journal, covered over the weekend in the paper and in his blog.
And in a side note, former Florida Atlantic guard Stefan Moody has enrolled at Kilgore College. UNT faced FAU/Moody in the Sun Belt:
The rumors were true — Stefan Moody has left the FAU basketball team and will play JuCo in Texas next year: http://t.co/3NtB9iljrc
