Mitchell starting to blow up in summer league (more links, stories)

Tony Mitchell continued to shine while playing for the Detroit Pistons in the NBA summer league in Orlando.

Mitchell finished with six points and a game-high 10 rebounds in the Pistons’ 93-63 loss to the Boston Celtics. Mitchell didn’t shoot the ball as well as he did in the Pistons’ summer league opener, going 3-for-9 from the floor and missing both of his free throws.

He did have the play of the game, though, a highlight reel dunk (this should come as no surprise to UNT fans).

Vince Ellis of the Detroit Free Press wrote about Mitchell today. This is what Mitchell told him after the game:

“A little bit of everything,” Mitchell told Ellis when asked what he needs to work on to improve. “Talking on defense, rebounding, a little bit of everything. You just got to get comfortable with and used to it. This is the next level. A lot of guys are more athletics, more physical and whatnot. I just think I need to work on everything.”
