I mentioned last week that I should be able to get a copy of the presentation UNT president Lane Rawlins made to the board of regents on athletic funding.
Here it is: BOR Amended Athletics Budget Presentation ke (1)
We went over similar figures in our summer series on UNT’s 100th anniversary of its football program.
There are some good numbers one can pull from the presentation, though. UNT’s proposed athletic budget for 2014 was $30.4 million, up from $27.6 million.
Our higher education reporter Jenna Duncan had some additional information in her story today.
After presentations from UNT President Lane Rawlins, the board voted 6-3 to add an amendment to the budget that supports “the commitment of the UNT President of an additional $2.8 million in revenue and expenditure for the UNT Intercollegiate Athletics program and directs the Finance Committee to meet with the President immediately.”
Additionally, the amendment states that the committee should review the athletics department five-year plan and make a recommendation to the board including budget adjustments. After the amendment was added, the budget passed unanimously.
That figure seems pretty exact to me. It could be tied for UNT’s much talked about effort to add a baseball program.
There were also some additional tidbits floating out there on the recruiting front.
UNT target Caleb Chumley of Longview Pine Tree continues to blow up.
