Sunday night notes and thoughts (game week, soccer, scrimmage, et cetera)

If it seems like I have dropped off the radar a bit it’s because I have been pretty busy putting together our annual football preview magazine. This year’s edition is going to be our biggest yet at 120 pages.

It comes out on Thursday. If your’re a fan of UNT and the local high schools it will well worth 50 cents.

Trust me. We have been working on it for months.

As far as what is going on, it’s officially game week …

UNT opens at home against Idaho on Saturday.

A few people have asked me about the fallout from UNT’s Saturday’s mock game. That workout was closed to media members and Dan McCarney and his players were not available afterward.

We should know more today when McCarney is scheduled to jump on the Conference USA teleconference.

And while we are at it, the UNT soccer team opened its home schedule today with a 1-0 win over Houston Baptist. Rachel Holden scored the only goal of the game for UNT and how has four goals in two games.

Could we be witnessing the emergence of the next Marilyn Marin?

The thought has crossed my mind.

Marin was the best player in UNT history whose name is all over the NCAA record books.
