UNT announced its Hall of Fame class today that includes Scott Hall and Cody Spencer, two of the key members of the Mean Green’s bowl-era teams of the early- to mid-2000,
The class also includes Jim Cooper, one of UNT’s earliest football standouts who played in the 1940s, former UNT football coach Corky Nelson and Heather Hutyra, one of the standout soccer players from the mid 2000s.
There have been a lot of people pushing for Hall for years, including me.
What Hall did in leading UNT to four bowl games in an era that began when UNT had no athletic center, played in Fouts Field, struggled to find enough money to send its players to summer school and played three money games a year was remarkable.
Spencer was also a key member of those teams.
