Austin played at South Grand Prairie, where he averaged 12.1 points and 4.6 assists a game as a senior.
Austin went on to play his freshman season at Angelo State, where he averaged 12.3 points a game. He left the school and landed at Paris JC.
UNT has a standout point guard in Chris Jones, who is a junior, and a couple of guys who can also play the point in Alzee Williams and Vertrail Vaughns, who are both seniors.
UNT needs a player to back up Jones during his senior year and then take over. It looks like Austin is a guy UNT is looking at for that role.
Paris’ head coach is former UNT assistant Chuck Taylor, who in a side note is great guy.
