UNT came up with what could turn out to be a season-altering win over Middle Tennessee tonight. The Mean Green rolled 34-7 in what has to be one of UNT’s better all-around performances in years.
UNT rushed for 303 yards and had a back go over the 100-yard mark. Brandin Byrd went for 139.
At 3-3 UNT is very much in the hunt to get to six wins, the minimum goal for the season. UNT already has its game against Georgia out of the way. The rest of the schedule seems a little more manageable.
Offensive lineman Mason Y’Barbo talked about how he and the rest of the Mean Green’s offense were, well, let’s just say upset because they felt like people said that UNT couldn’t run the ball.
What people were actually saying was that UNT hadn’t run the ball the last two weeks while finishing with 41 yards in two games, but that is besides the point.
UNT went back to the drawing board and got things rolling again.
UNT’s defense also played well and controlled the line of scrimmage. The Mean Green also came up with a host of big hits and turnovers.
We will have more in the paper tomorrow.
Bottom line — That was a great night for UNT.
