12:29 — UNT is up 55-14 in the fourth quarter. This game is over. I’m going to check out to make sure I get everything lined up for tomorrow’s DRC and DMN. I will be back later.
2:04 — Lairamie Lee just intercepted a Mullens pass. UNT is driving again and has the ball at the Southern Miss 23.
9:41 — We are going back and forth with turnovers in the third quarter. UNT defensive end Chad Polk forced a fumble from Chad Mullens, but UNT turned around and gave it right back on an Antoinne Jimmerson fumble. Southern Miss has given it back again on an interception.
10:20 — I lost my connection there for a minute. UNT is up 41-14. Derek Thompson just threw an interception. Southern Miss has the ball at its 34-yard line.
13:47 — Brandin Byrd fumbled the ball on UNT’s second play from scrimmage in the second half. Southern Miss recovered at UNT 2-yard line and cashed in with touchdown run from George Payne. UNT is still up 41-14.
Halftime — We have hit halftime with UNT up 41-7. I will be curious to see how many people come back for the second half.
:42 — Catching up a big here. UNT drove 62 yards on five plays and scored on a Derek Thompson 3-yard run. Marcus Trice intercepted a pass on the first play after the touchdown and UNT scored again on an Antoinne Jimmerson 6-yard run. UNT is up 41-7.
3:20 — UNT has forced another three-and-out and has the ball back at its 33-yard line. UNT has scored on its last two possessions.

8:23 — UNT has the ball back after forcing another Southern Miss punt. UNT is up 20-7.
9:13 — UNT showed a bit of maturity on its last series after Southern Miss pulled to within 13-7. Brelan Chancellor caught a 52-yard pass on a nifty cutback route over the middle and took it to the Southern Miss 4-yard line. Brandin Byrd scored a short time later to put UNT up 20-7.
10:25 — Game on. Dominique Sullivan beat James Jones deep for a 59-yard touchdown.
12:24 — UNT just punted it away after not getting anything going on its last possession. Antoinne Jimmerson got caught behind the line for a 4-yard loss that put UNT in a hole. Southern Miss has the ball at its 16-yard line.
14:11 — UNT has the ball back at its 33-yard line after forcing another three-and-out. UNT is really rolling offensively.
Start of the second quarter — UNT is up 13-0 after Reggie Pegram scored on a 3-yard run. Zach Paul pushed the extra point wide. UNT has dominated this game after that early snafu with the the interception.

14:52 — USM hyas the ball to start at the 26.
6:05 — UNT won the toss and deferred.
6:01 — We have talked about it in the paper and on the blog all week, but this is a huge game for UNT. It’s hard to imagine UNT not winning six games this season if it pulls this one out tonight. UNT just has to handle the pressure of playing in a game Southern Miss is going to put a huge emphasis on.
I have made the trip to Harriesburg for for UNT’s game against Southern Miss.
This is a rematch of the 2004 New Orleans Bowl that Southern Miss won 31-10.
This game could also have bowl implications — for UNT.
The Mean Green is on a roll having won two straight to get to 4-3. UNT had no won consecutive games since 2004, when the Mean Green rolled off seven straight wins to get to that game against Southern Miss.
That’s today’s trivia question. Yes, Southern Miss was the last team to end a UNT winning streak.
A lot has changed since then. Southern Miss has fallen on hard times while there is a feeling at UNT that the Mean Green is headed in the right direction under Dan McCarney.
I checked in and everyone should be available today. UNT has been pretty lucky when it comes to injuries this year. UNT credits a lot of that success to its strength and conditioning program.
The interesting aspect of today’s game is that Nick Mullens will make his first start at quarterback for Southern Miss today. The freshman threw a couple of fourth quarter touchdown passes last week.
Check back, I will update the blog all day.
