UNT will tip off its game against BYU out in Utah.
I’m at the kitchen table here in Denton, but here are some thoughts about what to look for tonight.
– Can UNT handle BYU on the perimeter?
Tyler Haws leads BYU with an average of 23.7 points a game and goes 6-5. Matt Carlino is adding 19.0 points a game, but is a little smaller at 6-2. Haws will have a size advantage against UNT and Carlino can flat score. UNT has a couple of smaller guards in Chris Jones and Brandan Walton who play a lot. Can UNT handle those guys?
– Will being on the road in the cold at altitude hurt UNT?
Yeah, I know the game is indoors, but outside of Walton, a lot of UNT’s guys have rarely driven through a snowstorm to play. UNT used to struggle at Denver in the altitude. Walton played in Casper, Wyo. What about the rest of UNT’s guys?
– Will UNT’s athleticism pay dividends?
UNT is really athletic. Will that make a difference in tonight’s game at BYU. We are about to find out.
