After making a few phone calls this afternoon, here is where UNT stands as we head down the stretch in football recruiting.
I swapped messages with top defensive end target Xavier Washington. The Cedar Hill standout had a good time at Houston, but UNT is still very much in the hunt and will receive an official visit next weekend.
It never hurts to be the last team to get an official visit with a prospect.
That is a situation that could go either way. I don’t really have a feeling one way or the other.
I always did have a sneaking suspicion that Garrett Davis might not stick, and it looks like that is the case.
UofH with a big day in recruiting as they gained commitments from Red Oak CB Garret Davis and @DeSotoUFootball CB Howard Wilson.

Davis told me just a few days ago that he was going to sign with UNT. I called him back tonight, but never heard back. That isn’t a good sign, but until we hear from Davis it’s hard to know for sure what the deal is.
Davis isn’t the highest rated prospect in UNT’s class, but he was one of the Mean Green’s better commitments.
Tillman Johnson, a defensive end who is currently committed to Texas State, visited UNT this weekend. I swapped messages with him and was supposed to hear back, but haven’t yet.
He told me last week that he would visit both UNT and Texas State before making a decision. I suspect that will indeed be the case.
UNT will have to wait it out.
