There were a few twists and turns this weekend as far in the world of football recruiting for UNT.
With that being the case, I thought it would be a good time for a look at where UNT stands and were it is headed as we venture down the stretch towards national signing day.
The big news of the weekend was that UNT gained a commitment and lost another.
Tillman Johnson was committed to Texas State and planned to visit both schools before making a final decision. Johnson was blown away by what UNT had to offer when he visited over the weekend and flipped on the spot, which we wrote about last night.
Johnson is a good get at a need spot.
While UNT gained a commitment from Johnson, it looks like Garrett Davis is all but signed sealed and delivered to Houston.
So where does that leave UNT?
It looks like UNT has 17 players on the board and two spots left to give.
The fact that UNT would really like to land Cedar Hill defensive end Xavier Washington is not a big secret. He visited Houston last weekend and will head to UNT this weekend.
I expect the Mean Green to put on the fullcourt press when he gets to town.
There are a host of other players who are still out there. That is always the case late. Schools fill up, offers dry up and guys start looking for a place to land when the music stops. Some of the best players UNT has signed through the years have been in that situation. We could soon find out if another gem falls into UNT’s laps at the last minute.
