After doing a little leg work and stopping by practice, here are a couple of key developments on the basketball front.
The UNT women continue to be hit with a series of key injuries and have now lost key contributors Acheil Tac and Candice Adams for the year.
Adams has a sprained knee that will take her about a month to recover from. Considering the season is over before that time span will be up, the freshman point guard who has been a key contributor right off the bat, is done.
UNT has also lost Tac for the season. She will have surgery on a torn meniscus tomorrow.
Both are key losses for UNT, which is already with out BreAnna Dawkins and Joh’Vonna Darrington due to injury.
UNT will have to lean even more on Laura McCoy at the point and then hope that redshirt freshman Eboniey Jeter can continue to come on. Mike Petersen said Jeter has been playing well in practice, but has been stuck behind a couple of more experienced players. UNT will need her to contribute now.
On the men’s front, UNT is looking at its road trip to Florida as a way to jump back into the race for a bye in the Conference USA tournament.
In a side note, Kelvin Gaines will be returning close to his home in Florida. I will have a video later with him talking about his return to his home state.
Alzee Williams is just five points short of 1,000 career points.
