7:39 — UNT is up 48-45 at the third media timeout of the second half. ODU is headed to the line. UNT has held the Monarchs without a point since the 11:10 mark. This is not the prettiest game I’ve seen in terms of offensive execution. Chris Jones has 11 points.

Alzee Williams is still leading UNT with 10 points. Chris Jones has nine. UNT has been a ton better defensively after essentially ditching the zone tonight.

15:59 — UNT is down 41-34 at the first media timeout of the second half. UNT was down just one before ODU hit back-to-back 3s. The Monarchs are 7-of-12 from behind the arc. UNT is still only shooting 32 percent from the field. Alzee Williams has 10 points for the Mean Green.

Halftime — UNT is down 35-32 at halftime. UNT was down six late in the first half, but scored the last three points. Alzee Williams has 10 and Chris Jones nine for UNT. UNT has forced 10 turnovers, which has helped matters. UNT is shooting just 34 percent from the field, but has played a whole lot better defensively. Tipoff II — This has to be one of the worst crowds of the season. It’s pretty empty here at the Pit.

Tipoff — In an interesting twist, Keith Coleman is starting tonight.

The UNT men’s basketball team is about to take on ODU and once again we are along for the ride on the MGB.

UNT has lost a Conference USA worst four consecutive games and is one loss short of matching the longest losing streak of the Tony Benford era. UNT also lost five in a row at one point last season.

A loss would also drop UNT into last place in the C-USA standings at 2-8. Rice and Marshall are also 2-8 in conference play. Neither play tonight.

On the bright side, a win tonight pushes UNT back to .500 on the season.

If UNT is going to get something going, it’s going to have to find a way to improve defensively. The Mean Green has given up at least 90 in two of its last three games and ranks 15th out of 16 teams in C-USA in scoring defense with an average of 75.8 points allowed a game.

Aaron Bacote is one of the top scorers in C-USA. The ODU guard is putting up 16.5 points a game.

Jordan Williams and Alzee Williams are averaging 12.7 and 11.8 points a game, respectively, for UNT.
