3:10 — Tulsa is up 86-60 over UNT at the final media timeout. Tulsa has missed a few open shots otherwise UNT might have been looking at giving up 100 in this one. Brandan Walton now has 12 points for UNT. Chris Jones has 11.
5:56 — Tulsa may have just regained its footing late in this game. James Woodard hit a 3 to spark a 7-0 Golden Hurricane run. Tulsa is up 83-56.
7:29 — UNT has just forced a turnover heading into a media timeout and will have a chance to get this under 20 on its next possession. UNT will need quite a run to make Tulsa sweat this, but the Mean Green is playing better in the second half.
7:45 — UNT is trying to make this look respectable. Brandan Walton has heated up and hit three 3s to spark a run that has pulled UNT to within 20 at 76-56. Jordan Williams just hit another 3 to get UNT within 20.
11:12 — UNT is down 72-43 after Brandan Walton hit a 3 to stem the tide. UNT really needed that earlier while struggling against Tulsa’s zone. Tulsa is controlling this game in just about every way possible.
11:50 — It’s really getting ugly now here in Tulsa. The Golden Hurricane is on an 8-0 run and is up 72-40. UNT’s body language is not good. UNT just took a timeout.
14:14 — Tulsa is pouring it on now. It’s 62-39 Golden Hurricane. UNT just doesn’t have the firepower to match Tulsa. Jordan Williams has 16 to lead the Mean Green.

Beginning of the second half — Maurice Aniefiok is not playing today. He is here, but is not dressed out. I don’t know if he would really help matters, but he is not playing.
Halftime — UNT is down 47-31 at halftime here in Tulsa. The Golden Hurricane made quick work of UNT’s 2-3 zone and ran out to a double-digit lead pretty quickly. Jordan Williams has 14 points for UNT and is keeping this game closer than it would otherwise be. Tulsa is playing quite a bit of zone as well. The Golden Hurricane has done a good job of getting the ball into the high post to players who can hit the short jumper or turn and find cutters or guys open from 3.
3:53 — UNT is on a mini 4-0 run and will have the ball coming out of the last media timeout of the first half after Tulsa threw the ball away. Jordan Williams has 10 points for UNT. The Mean Green was down 15 before this little burst.

15:40 — It’s Tulsa 8, Jordan Williams 8 at the first media timeout. UNT was down 4-0, but Williams has pumped in a pair of 3s and hit another shot. Williams’ last 3 tied it up. Tulsa is getting good shots against UNT’s zone so far. The more UNT plays it, the more it looks like teams have prepared for it.
Update tipoff — In a side note, UNT is a huge underdog in this game. The line is around 10 points. Vertrail Vaughns is making just his seven start of the season.
I made the trip to Tulsa today and ran across UNT assistant David Anwar at the airport, which resembled a Conference USA coaches convention. As I mentioned on Twitter, I was on the same flight with Tulsa head football coach Bill Blakenship. One of Tulsa’s basketball assistants was also at the airport after getting back to town.
The point is I’m here at the Reynolds Center for UNT’s game against the Golden Hurricane.
UNT is trying to get something going here late in the season after falling to 2-4 in Conference USA play in its last game, a loss to Middle Tennessee.
Tulsa lost its last game to UAB, but has won five of its last seven. The Golden Hurricane had won seven straight at home before falling to the Blazers.
One would think that Tulsa will be ready to go today.
UNT has been playing pretty well of late and hasn’t lost consecutive games since early January. Jordan Williams is averaging 12.3 points to lead UNT. James Woodard is averaging 14.5 points a game to lead Tulsa, which is pretty big across the board and takes good care of the ball.
