Saturday scrimmage live blog

And we are done.

10:07 — Dajon Williams hit Marcus Smith down the sideline on his series and Antoinne Jimmerson cashed in from a yard out. And that might be it.

10:04 — Really nice series for Josh Greer there. He led UNT down the field, hit on all five of his passes before spiking it. Zach Paul banged a 26-yard field goal through.

10:01 — We are into short-clock drills. Josh Greer is in with the first team. UNT has picked up a first down, another 6 yards and called timeout.

9:58 — The second-team offense with Josh Greer in stalled out, largely due to a holding call. The third team scored on its possession.

9:53 — Antoinne Jimmerson just scored from 2 yards out in goal line drills. Cyril Lemon is showing off his dance moves. Greatness.

9:50 — UNT is moving into goal-line drills. The first team is up at the 5-yard line going in. Andrew McNulty is up first.

9:47 — Malik Dilonga is having a nice say. He just made a play in the backfield when UNT was looking to score from the 19-yard line going in. He is working with the secoknd-team defense.

9:43 — Mark Lewis just scored on a 16-yard run through the middle. He wasn’t touched.

9:42 — UNT has moved into a section of the scrimmage with the offense at the 16-yard line going in. Dajon Williams is up first.

9:38 — John Chelf just made a great grab on a jump ball deep pass from Dajon Williams. He just lofted it up there and left Chelf go get it.

9:36 — Greer just had a pretty bad series. He missed on a pass, converted on a run, but fumbled at the end of it and then threw another incomplete pass that was almost picked off.

9:33 — We are about to start a third-down ladder. Josh Greer is up first.

9:27 — UNT’s first-team offense converted on four of five situations in short-yardage spots with Andrew McNulty in there. The second team missed on all four with Josh Greer in there. UNT fumbled on the first play.

Update 9:24 — UNT is working on short-yardage situations now. McNulty is up with the first team.

Update 9:18 — I spoke too soon. UNT ran it three times and picked up a first down. That was the end of the series. Not much of a chance for Greer to show much there.

Update 9:16 — Josh Greer is up with the third team. Big shot for Greer right here.

Update 9:12 — Dajon Williams got a shot with the first team at the 2-yard line coming out. UNT didn’t go anywhere. A false start didn’t help. And now McNulty is up.

Update 9:05 — We are now into punting drills.

Update 9:00 — Dajon Williams has pretty good feet and quickness. He avoided the rush and lofted a great ball down the field. The receiver got tangled up with the defensive back. The ball went incomplete, but it was impressive that Williams got the ball there.

Update 8:55 — We have run through the first two sets of series with the first through third teams. We are now headed into the two-minute drill. Josh Greer threw the ball the best among UNT’s quarterbacks through the first two series. Andrew McNulty drove the bus effectively on one touchdown drive that saw UNT run the ball most of the way down the field. Dajon Williams did some good things as well.

This is why I always show up early.

UNT started early today. The scrimmage portion of the workout started at 8:30.

I made it for the series of the scrimmage. Andrew McNulty was up first and moved the ball, but saw his drive stall out. Josh Greer started with the second team, but didn’t get anywhere. Dajon Willimams started with the third team and didn’t get anywhere.

McNulty then directed a touchdown drive with the first team. He threw two passes on the drive.

Williams threw a 40-yard pass while working with the third team, but just tossed an interception on a tipped ball.
