Thursday morning notes (UNT tennis team beats TCU, Mac raps)

UNT picked up a big win yesterday.

I didn’t have a chance to mention it until now, but the women’s tennis team beat TCU 4-3 in Fort Worth.

Agustina Valenzulea beat TCU’s Sofiko Kadzhaya at No. 4 singles in the deciding match 1-6, 6-3, 7-5. It was only the second time in 34 matches between the schools that UNT has pulled off the win.

What makes the win all the bigger for UNT is that the team has been dealing with a host of injuries early in the season. It looks like UNT could be hitting its stride at the right time.

On the football front, Dan McCarney made an appearance on “Yo! Roger Raps” on 105.3 THE FAN. I was listening to the station on the way home last night. They teased that Mac would be on this morning.

Texas Tech coach Kliff Kingsbury was on a few days ago.

College coaches have to do these kinds of deals. It’s great publicity and the players love it. It’s a way they can identify with their coaches. UNT has put out videos of Mac dancing in the locker room after wins.

I usually see Roger at a couple of UNT events every year.

“Yo! Roger Raps” is a great segment every week. Pure radio gold.
