11:54 — UNT is down 49-29 at the second media timeout of the second half and has made just one field goal in the second half. I looked it up, the 23 points UNT scored in the first half was its second lowest total of the season. UNT is now shooting 19 percent from the field.

Halftime — UNT is down 36-21 at halftime here at the Super Pit. Jordan Williams has seven points for UNT, which shot a pretty brutal 22 percent in the first half. UNT missed all seven of its 3-point attempts. UTEP has a 26-17 edge in rebounds. This will be a long crawl back if UNT wants to rally.
3:35 — UNT is down 32-14 late in the first half here at the Super Pit. Colin Voss still leads UNT with four points. UNT is shooting 18 percent from the floor and is 0-for-6 from 3-point range. With the way UTEP plays defense, this hole is pretty big.
7:31 — UNT turned it over coming out of the timeout (just burned one for nothing there). Matt Williams has nine for UTEP. That 7-footer is killing UNT inside. UTEP has a 15-10 edge in rebounds.

Update tioff II — UNT starters: Alzee Williams, Jordan Williams, Colin Voss, Armani Flannigan, Chris Jones.
Update tipoff — It really does look like UNT will be out-numbered as far as fans today. The UTEP crowd is still rolling in.
UNT is about to tip off its game against UTEP in front of less than 300 people here at the Super Pit, and pretty close to half of them are UTEP fans.
There is freezing rain falling.
This is Texas. Frozen water freaks people out unless it is floating in a beverage.
Throw in the Sunday factor and it looks like it is going to be pretty empty in today.
As far as the game goes, UNT puts is four-game winning streak on the line against a pretty good UTEP team. UNT’s four wins — all of which have come in C-USA play — have come against teams with a combined conference record of 19-37.
UTEP is 10-4. UTEP is also likely very hungry after losing its last two games. The Miners have a lot on the line in terms of securing a double bye in the conference tournament.
UNT also has a lot to play for. The Mean Green is sitting in ninth place in the conference standings. That is the last spot that will translate to a bye at the end of the season. The problem is that the race is pretty tight and UNT is playing two of C-USA’s top teams its last two regular season games.
UNT has Tulsa in its last game of the regular season. The Golden Hurricane is sitting in a tie for first place in the league standings and trounced UNT earlier this season.
UNT hasn’t beaten a team with a winning record in conference play. UAB is 7-7 and has the best league record among the six teams UNT has beaten.
If UNT is going to break through for a big win today, it’s going to have to do a good job inside, a challenge it has struggled with all season. UNT ranks 12th out of 16 teams in Conference USA with an average rebounding margin of minuus-2.4.
UTEP starts guys who go 6-8, 6-11, 7-1, and 6-8.
Check back, I will update the blog all day.
