GREAT story out today that the North Texas Football Team had the highest GPA of all 16 teams in @Conference_USA this past year.

I’ve been meaning to mention this in the last couple of days — UNT posted the highest GPA among football teams in Conference USA in the last school year.
I will likely follow up on the story in the next few days in the paper. It really is quite the story. UNT was in terrible shape academically — and in just about every other conceivable fashion — when Dan McCarney took over.
The fact UNT is getting it done in the class room is great for the program. McCarney often talks about how a solid performance academically tends to carry over to the field.
The evidence is pretty compelling at this point.
And in other news, there is a big JUCO showcase for unsigned players in Dallas this weekend. Paris JC center Nouhoum Bocoum, who said earlier this week that he is down to UNT and Eastern Michigan as possible landing spots, isn’t on the list of players scheduled to be there.
Blinn shooting guard Macari Brooks will be. UNT has been in the hunt for Books over the last few weeks.
I don’t know if UNT’s staff will be at the event or not, but it seems like a safe bet considering how often the Mean Green has dipped into the JC ranks for players the last couple of years.
