Tuesday afternoon running blog

And we are done.

5:53 — Dajon Williams capitalizes on his shot with the first team, leading a touchdown drive, capped with a pass to Darius Terrell.

5:50 — UNT is into two-minute drils. Dajon Williams is getting a shot with the first-team.

5:43 — Carlos Harris just scored on a nice end-around in red zone drills. Harris has some Brelan Chancellor-type skills in him.

5:35 — Josh Greer made a nice throw in the red zone for a touchdown. Andrew McNulty came right back and made a good move to avoid the rush before throwing a touchdown of his own. Those two are going back-and-forth today. Andrew McNulty is with the third team.

5:28 — Andrew McNulty led UNT’s offense on a touchdown drive. John Chelf had a great catch and run on the drive. McNulty is back out there in third-down drills with the first team. McNulty just hit on a 50-yard ball. Josh Greer came back with a touchdown pass to Chelf, who is the star of the day so far.

5:15 — Tough series for Dajon Williams. He had one ball picked, overthrew another and then threw a good deep ball to Carl Caldwell, who dropped it.

5:11 — Freddie Warner just intercepted a pass from Dajon Williams on the sideline.

5:09 — Andrew McNulty was up first both in passing drills and now in team drills. He zipped one in there to Darvin Kidsy. Both McNulty and Josh Greer made some good throws and missed badly on others. Dajon Williams is now up with the second team.

Update 4:54 — Tommy Perry is not real happy with the way UNT is looking in special teams drills today. UNT looks a little flat overall.

Update 4:46 — Carlos Harris is returning kicks. He is going to get a chance to win that job in the fall when UNT will take a look at some of its freshmen in that role.

Update 4:41 — Derek Akunne was encouraging his teammates to pick it up. Just my take here, but I think it’s important for Akunne to take a leadership role.

Update 4:41 — This didn’t go quite as planned. I cut out there to make some calls to try to get in touch with UNT’s new basketball commit and missed a big chunk of practice. I caught the end of one-on-one passing drills. Andrew McNulty and Dajon Williams both had their moments. Those were the only two guys I saw. For what it’s worthy, Williams was up first in team drills.

It is a beautiful day here at the Darrell R. Dickey Football Practice Facility. UNT is out for another edition of spring practice. We are along for the ride.

UNT’s pro day is tomorrow. Marcus Trice is here, as is Derek Thompson, who has been around all spring. This is the first workout after one of UNT’s major scrimmages. UNT will open with special teams drills.

We are now into position drills.

Stay tuned. I will update the blog all afternoon.
