Combs shines in all-star game, UNT football fares well academically

North Texas signee Jeremy Combs shined in the Texas Shootout, a summer all-star game, recently. (The Dallas Morning News)

I was saving this for later today, but since it has become a topic of conversation this afternoon UNT signee Jeremy Combs had a big showing at the Texas Shootout, a summer all-star game.

Combs scored 25 points and grabbed nine rebounds for the Blue team, which won 88-83.

There were several top players in the game, including D’Angelo Allen, a Missouri signee; Trent Brinkley, a top recruit from Kimball; and Terry Matson, a Baylor signee.

UNT is really banking on Combs to be an impact player next season. Seeing him shine against some of the top college prospects in the state is a really good sign.

And in other news …

The UNT football team did really well academically in the spring semester. The key point there is that UNT does not any eligibility problems heading into the summer.
