Friday night tidbits (Oritz makes cut, two UNT athletes advance to nationals in track)

There were a couple of key notes of interest late on Friday.

First off, former UNT golfer Carlos Ortiz made the cut at the Memorial on the PGA Tour. It’s Ortiz’s first PGA event. He is in for a long career and is already pretty much a lock to get his PGA Tour card on the basis of his performance on the Web.com Tour.

On the track front, Chastity Stewart and Clinton Collins advanced to the national meet from the NCAA preliminary round meet in the 400 hurdles and 400, respectively.

And in a recruiting tidbit …

Georgia defensive tackle Quentez Johnson, who pretty much everyone including UNT has offered, will release his top 10 June 8. It sounds like he is leaning toward signing with Tennessee.
