Sunday afternoon notes, thoughts (Trice signs with Bears)

I’m a little late to the party, but Marcus Trice announced this afternoon that he has signed with the Bears.

Trice had a tryout with Chicago and apparently did pretty well. The Bears signed the safety after his workout.

UNT has several players working to land a spot in camp who went undrafted at this point, including quarterback Derek Thompson and linebacker Zach Orr.

And in other news, big man Quadree Smith will announce his college destination on Wednesday. UNT is in the hunt. The Mean Green parted ways with big men Keith Coleman and Kelvin Gaines after last season and is in the market for another post player. Smith appears to be UNT’s best option at this point.

The Conference USA track meet will finish up late tonight. UNT appears as if it will finish back in the pack in both the men’s and women’s team standings.
