Thursday afternoon notes (recruiting tidbits, et cetera)

There were a couple of good tidbits of notes today on the recruiting front.

I covered one earlier when I wrote about Keith Washington, a Texas high school quarterback who projects as a defensive back on the college level. UNT is among a host of schools recruiting him.

And in other news …

Bishop Dunne wide receiver A.D. Miller continues to blow up on the recruiting scene.

Nebraska offered Miller today. For those of you scoring at home, Kentucky, Miami, Arizona State and Notre Dame have all jumped in and offered since UNT, and that isn’t counting Nebraska.

The “Mom Card” is always a weapon for UNT with local guys, but SMU is in it as well — and Miller a private school kid.

UNT has also offered Sam Mays, a wide receiver from Houston who has an offer from the hometown Cougars in addition to Fresno State and Illinois.

Outside of the football realm that drives the bus, the “Carlos Ortiz PGA Tour Watch” is on this week. The former UNT standout needs to win one more Tour to earn his PGA Tour card. Well, Ortiz is right at the top of the leaderboard in South Georgia Classic in today’s first round.

Stay tuned.
