UNT is close to finalizing its first commitment in the Class of 2015. Rodney Bendy, a 6-4 wide receiver from Tyler John Tyler, has told UNT’s coaches that he will sign with the Mean Green.

Bendy and UNT are expected to finalize the commitment in the next few days, likely when the Mean Green hosts a satellite camp in Tyler. Bendy will have a chance to meet UNT head coach Dan McCarney at the camp and finalize his decision to play for the Mean Green.

Bendy caught 28 passes for 361 yards and four touchdowns last season.

Tyler John Tyler coach Ricklan Holmes announced that Bendy had committed to UNT on his Twitter account Friday afternoon.

I have yet to talk with Bendy, who is being courted by East Texas ace recruiter Tommy Perry.

Stay tuned. It appears as if things are going to start heating up on the recruiting front.
