Quadree Smith, a 6-foot-8 power forward from the East Coast, is set to announce his college destination today.
Smith had committed to UNC-Greensboro, but backed out of that pledge. UNT has been involved. To what degree is somewhat in question.
UNT coach Tony Benford said that UNT would try to find a traditional low-post threat after parting ways with Keith Coleman and Kelvin Gaines after last season.
UNT was involved with Nohoumus Bocoum, a Paris JC standout who committed to Arkansas State.
Smith is the only other player out there we know of in terms of a post player who is considering UNT.
We went over the entire situation a few days ago.
Smith said he would announce his decision with a video or via Twitter. If you want to follow along, his Twitter account is the quite clever ALL DAY Don’t Hate Q
That is a lot of recruiting going on for a team full on scholarship players. I did ask Tony Benford about UNT’s plans for its roster at the coaches caravan. He said no one has left who we don’t already know about, but that UNT is still recruiting.

And in other news, interest continues to pick up in Flower Mound offensive lineman Evan Curl, who picked up an offer from Fresno State.
We wrote about Curl in our ongoing UNT recruiting target series a while back.
Here is Curl’s recruiting profile on 247 Sports. The guys there were nice enough to link back to the MGB, if you look down at his timeline.
