Wednesday morning notes (UNT commit picks up offer, et cetera)

Rodney Bendy

Tyler John Tyler wide receiver Rodney Bendy picked up an offer from Louisiana-Monroe today.

UNT’s coaches are high on Bendy, were pretty confident he would pick up momentum as a recruit and receive some additional attention.

That is exactly what’s happening.

Bendy committed to UNT a while back. This will all become official with UNT when Bendy gets a chance to meet with Dan McCarney, likely at UNT’s satellite camp coming up in Tyler. Mac likes to meet with recruits before commitments become officially official.

I highly doubt that Bendy is going to bail on his commitment to UNT to sign with ULM — or anyone else for that matter. What will be interesting to see is how much his stock rises.

This could be an instance of UNT getting a steal early through some good scouting.

In other recruiting news, the Morning News updated its Area Top 100 list for the Class of 2015. UNT has offered 10 players on the list.

As far as former UNT players go, the Baltimore Ravens are running a poll on their website that asks fans to vote on their favorite undrafted free agent. Former UNT linebacker Zach Orr is one of eight players listed and is currently running in fifth place. North Carolina tackle James Hurst is winning the poll. In an interesting twist, Middle Tennessee cornerback Sammy Seamster is in second place.

And finally, on the hoops front, CBS came out with an early look at Conference USA. The website picks UNT to finish ninth.
