Tuesday evening notes (former UNT player lands at Houston, recruiting tidbit)

There were a couple of items of interest to come down the pipe late this afternoon with UNT implications and or connections. To review …

UNT jumped into the race for Georgia defensive tackle Quentez Johnson quite a while ago. Since then so has much of the rest of the college football world, including a ton of heavy-hitters.

Johnson will visit North Carolina, North Carolina State, Wake Forest and Duke this week.

And on the women’s basketball front …

Former UNT guard Mansa El has joined the staff at Houston as a graduate assistant. El was recruited by former head coach Tina Slinker, but ended up playing for Shanice Stephens. She quickly ran for the nearest exit, transferred to a junior college and then finished her career at South Alabama.

El seemed like a smart kid and had a pretty good career. Now she will be coaching in the state.
